If one commands Kohaku with his full name, he must obey their command, no matter what it is. A fact he really doesn't like to reveal. (To an extent it reflects in his character-he has trouble saying no.) --Also, whenever a human summons him, he must appear before them.

Physically Weak
Kohaku's area of expertise lies in the world of dreams and the metaphysical. Physically, he's not strong at all.

Weak to kids
Weak-willed in general, this extends to young-looking yokai.

Kohaku's strength depends on the last dream he consumed. If it was a sweet pleasant dream, then he is benevolent and can't fight for the period until his next. If it's a nightmare...

||Personality:
Kohaku is a very dreamy, scatter-brained, pleasant fellow. He doesn't always seem to be altogether there, but he's friendly enough. He's the type of guy who sets his own pace and doesn't overextend himself. This pace may be one that lags entirely behind everyone else such that they probably loop around him several times-but he doesn't mind. He doesn't mind meeting new people, but he doesn't mind not meeting anyone either. He would just think it's a little sad.

There is one thing, however, that he cannot stand-he doesn't like when the strong bully the weak. Though his definition of such may be a little different from others. When he sees someone in distress, he would also try his best to cheer them up... in his own weird way.

When it comes to humans... he doesn't particularly think that yokai and humans should be friends or anything, but he has a strange fondness for them because of the way they revere his kind. That doesn't stop him from eating all of their hopes and dreams sometimes, however...

||History:
Learning about Kohaku is a bit like pulling nails as the elusive baku doesn't like to reveal much about himself. What others have discerned, however, is that he was born in the darkness many years ago. As a newly born half-formed creature, he crawled into existence when he found a human suffering in her sleep. She called for the great baku to eat her nightmares and free her from her pain. So he became the great baku. He would send humans into that land of pleasant dreams with his gluttony.

Not much is known about his early days as they are shrouded in mystery, but he did emerge from obscurity eventually. Some decades later from his creation, he began traveling across the countryside of that tiny island and saved many as he consumed. Eating your way across the land is not a bad way to travel!

For some reason he's decided to settle recently in a small forest. He spends his days fishing in the lake there at night peacefully. When asked why he never has any produce to sell, he would answer in a far-off voice that he's "fishing for wishes" whatever that means and invite you to join him, which you just might since it's a nice night. And the glow from his lantern is always nice and warm.

||Relationships:

Ayumi: Owns an inn nearby. A bit of prankster, she seems friendly enough!
Sayo: An innocent girl. Tastes a bit charred. She seems a bit clumsy, but nice.
Hazuki: A very kind yokai who helped me at the festival. I have to pay her sometime.
??(Tooru): A bit of an unfriendly tengu. Doesn't seem to like drink and music.
Nastume: An inugami I've met when I'm drunk.
Ayumu: Ah, a wise oni I've met. Also the person who gave Little Ayumu his name!
Baba: A kind old lady who gave me candied apples.
Yuya: Met him briefly at Baba's. He seems fairly nice.


||Other facts:
Kohaku's yokai form is a white tapir that glows golden.
His nails are very hard and sharp in human form, enough to use as a weapon, and in yokai form they are actually tiger claws?? Yeah he's a tapir with tiger claws ok i decided that now
The orange thing around his neck is actually a scarf/muffler though it resembles a lion mane.
The kimono he wears over his clothes is a quilted kimono that changes pattern depending on the last dream he ate.
Kohaku needs to eat dreams to live.
The lantern he always carries with him is hung above his boat at night to attract fish.
He has a rice hat on his back.
